Phong has 18 years of experience in finance, accounting, contract management, and project management in both the public and private sectors. Phong is an integral part of Kinetek’s service delivery component as well as a member of its business development team. He has a diverse background in the areas of project management, database-level development, accounting and finance, and business intelligence.
Phong specializes in software configuration, training, and deployment and has worked extensively in industries such as systems integration, architecture, engineering, software development, and public relations. His experience allows him to provide customers with software-based solutions for these verticals using his advanced business automation skills.
Prior to joining Kinetek, Phong’s background includes an early internship with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), where he worked with financial systems for HUD’s Section 8 housing department in Washington, D.C. From there, he worked with the finance team on a US West telecommunications contract supporting the federal government’s FTS2000 system. His next stop was The Orkand Corporation, where Phong was exposed to in-depth financial analysis, accounting, project management, and business development. He took these skills and honed them further during his tenure at Porter/Novelli, a public relations firm in the Omnicom Group, where he served as contract administrator and controller in the Washington, D.C. office.
Most recently, he held a position as Director of Client Services for Deltek Systems, Inc. in Herndon, Virginia. In his role there, Phong was responsible for implementations on the East Coast and internationally. In his six years with the organization, he maintained a 100% success rate by providing exceptional customer service to his client base. Phong was able to combine his skills in finance, accounting, and project management with a high-end enterprise-level software package to offer customers of Deltek superior solutions. His experience as both a user and implementer gives him valuable insights into not only how best to operate the software, but also how to operate efficiently in diverse vertical markets.
Phong graduated from the University of Scranton with a bachelor's degree in Accounting in 1992. His professional career has been exclusively dedicated to supporting organizations in their efforts to provide concise, accurate, and timely information to achieve their business objectives. He has successfully managed implementation projects for firms with annual sales from $1M - $10B.
